Essential Fatty Acids score

As it happens to essential aminoacids, essential fatty acids are nutrients that the human body can not syntetize so they must be obtained from food. These fatty acids are the omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids. Recommendations from 2002 stablish the following EFA AIs for a adult (19-50 years old) non-pregnant woman and man.

Omega 3 (ω3)1,1 mg1,2 mg
Omega 6 (ω6)12 mg17 mg

This score shows the total amount of these essential fatty acids of the food, calculated as a percentage of the total daily intake recommendation for both adult non pregnant woman and man. The score is the average of the two percentages for ω3 and ω6.

The exact formula to obatin the two scores are:

EFA score (woman) = 50*(total_ω3 [mg]/1,1 + total_ω6[mg] / 12 mg)
